High Res were announced the winners of Best Lighting Company at this years 'Event Industry Awards', which were held at the Burlington Hotel, Dublin.  Peter Canning, Director of High Res, picked up the award at the black tie event.  High Res were awarded the prize for their work on the GAA 125 Anniversary celebrations, held earlier in the year in Croke Park Stadium.

Our brief for this had been to design a lighting spectacle which syncronised lighting, projection and fireworks to a custom made soundtrack, celebrating the 125 years of the GAA.  The show needed to cater for both a live audience of up to 80,000 people and a television audience of over 200,000, while working within the physical restrictions of the Stadium.  The event was timed to take place after the first league fixture of the 125th season between Dublin and Tyrone on 31st January 2009.  Any temporary hardware that the spectacle required could not interfere with the game.  The lighting system was programmed and designed virtually in a 3D lighting studio, in advance of any equipment arriving on site.  Specific fireworks were chosen to match the colour and effects of the lighting keeping a continuity between the two.

The whole show was designed to run via timecode from the TV Outside Broadcast Truck, this system cued each element and provided a syncronised show for the audience.   Setanta Sports had its highest audience ever, when more than a quarter of a million people tuned in to watch these celebrations.
